Padlet: A Wall of Thoughts

"Knock knock!"

"Who's there?"

"Egg."

"Egg who?"

"Eggcited to tell you this!"

I guess that's not an awkward welcome joke in this site, aha! Well, some serious business here. In the past few weeks, I have been using Padlet as a medium to channel my opinions regarding a few topics that needed to be discussed online/non-face-to-face as well as to submit links and what not. So, here I'm going to summarize a little bit about Padlet.

What is Padlet?

Founded in 2008 by Nitesh Goel, it is an online virtual "bulletin" board or you may want to call it "A Wall of Thoughts", where the users can collaborate, reflect, share links, pictures, comments as a community. Not only it welcome those types of learning and discussion but also, it provides star rating system which enable the users to evaluate others' works and boost users' confidence-- especially when high rating is received! Check here to find other features!

Who can use Padlet?

From my view, Padlet is not only suitable for students-educators but also can be a platform for any type of discussion. However, in my case, we optimize the use of Padlet as one of the learning tools. Do not worry, Padlet allows users to create a hidden wall with a custom URL. Hence, only those who have the link can get the access to your wall.

Where can it be accessed?

Internet connection is the only key. Whether you want to access Padlet via mobile phone or desktop, it is up to you. Users can have the application on mobile phone by installing it from Google Play Store or App Store. If you prefer it to be on desktop, you may have it there too!

When can it be managed?

Absolutely 24/7. You can moderate posts, remove posts, manage the boards and can be an on-going discussion, as you please.

Do I need to pay?

The most important question before you make up your mind to start. No, it is free to sign up (What a relief!). However, you can only make three Padlets before you need to upgrade to a monthly or yearly subscription.
