Poll Everywhere: Choose Your Stand

Hello peeps.

I guess the title has pretty summed up what I want to share today. Yes, it's about a technology to gather a feedback from our audiences (in our case: mostly students and colleagues). The technology is called Poll Everywhere, founded by Jeff Vyduna, Brad Gessler and Sean Eby in 2007. It was about 13 years ago when I was only 7 and it took me more than a decade to acknowledge it.

My lecturer used Poll Everywhere to conduct a survey. It turned out really useful for its user, obviously. In this paperless generation, this tool helps us to organise and collect information effectively, within seconds.

Let's see how to use it! (I tried to demonstrate as simple as I can.)

p/s: You need to sign up first if it's your first time. I skipped that part.

Below are the result appeared after I had answered the survey (for testing purpose):

This is a multiple-choice question. One can easily conduct a survey and get the result ready in chart.

Even we can have open-ended/short answer question like this because some of the questions are not meant to be rated like the previous question.

This is the coolest! Even you can put the map! Based on this picture, we can conclude that, one person is happy with the presentation (look at the green smiley).

Isn't it fantastic? It's user friendly and organised. Just like we've seen in Instagram and other social media, polls really mean a lot in receiving feedback.

On your right is the example of features available in Instagram which is the poll. However, because it's in social media, we might not have a presentable data as in lacking of charts and what not compared to what Poll Everywhere provide its users. So, we might opt for this tool for more formal purposes.

Besides, who knows what future will bring because everything (even voting) might be conducted online. As we prepare ourselves by familiarising these tools in classroom, it might help to ease our tasks a bit because that's what technology aims to.

Happy reading!
